FULL MOON SUMMIT

Summit Kilimanjaro in the glistening light of a Full Moon

A once in a life time experience

Trek Kilimanjaro in time for a Full Moon Summit. Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in the light of a full moon is certainly one of them. The stunning views of glittering glaciers on a cloudless night is reason alone for many climbers to schedule their trek to coincide with the full moon dates mentioned below. The glimmering moonlight will also assist you on the final climb on summit night where it may be unnecessary to even switch on your head lamp, enhancing your whole trek up the mountain, offering some magnificent night views of Kibo from most of the overnight camps.

When planning a full moon summit, the trek should be scheduled to leave a few days in advance of the full moon date i.e. a 7-Day trek should leave 5 Days before the full moon date. It is not essential to summit on the exact date of the full moon, making a day either side of the date also very beneficial. Climbing during a full moon has great advantages and of course attracts many climbers. If you are looking for a less crowded climb and more interested in stars, you should avoid planning your trek around these dates.

We offer several full moon summit group climbs every month during the dry season. These treks tend to fill up fairly quickly so it is better to book well in advance.
